The Hopkins Quarterly
The Hopkins Quarterly is an international
scholarly journal devoted to the life and works of Gerard Manley Hopkins
(1844-1889). Now celebrated as a major English poet, Hopkins was one of England’s
finest nature poets, a great religious poet, an ecological poet, a poet of
mental anguish, and a rare experimenter in word, sound, and rhythm. The Hopkins Quarterly also publishes
essays on Hopkins' circle of friends, Robert Bridges (Poet Laureate,
1913-1930), R.W. Dixon, and Coventry Patmore.
In scholarly
articles, bibliographies, notes, and reviews, The Hopkins Quarterly
presents both traditional and new approaches to Hopkins' work from scholars
throughout the world. Now in its 34th
volume and published every calendar year, each volume includes some 140
pages. It has 350 subscribers in
twenty-five countries--scholars, lovers of Hopkins' poetry, and the world's
major national and university libraries.
Its articles are indexed in the major bibliographies.
